Dane Bairstow goes straight back into the Bradford side to face Halifax-Huddersfield on Sunday after regaining his amateur status today.

The Bingley St Ives golfer tried his luck on the EuroPro Tour but has returned to the non-paid ranks and will line up for the hosts at Northcliffe.

Bradford captain Tim Wade said: “It’s very important to have someone like Dane back as he is one of our top six players. Straight away we look much stronger.”

Bairstow joins three players in the team who were part of Bingley St Ives’ scratch title- winning side, while three Shipley members feature, including Will Whiteoak, who nows plays out of the Beckfoot club.

With plenty of quality elsewhere in his team, Wade is keen to beat their second-placed visitors and end the campaign with a flourish.

He said: “I want to finish the season by winning our last three games. We got a half against Teesside when we should have won and we should have beaten Sheffield.

“We were 15-9 up against them with six matches left and we only got one more point. But it shows we are not far off.”
