Phil Parkinson will switch sides round from Tuesday’s win over Athlone Town for this afternoon’s friendly at Bohemians, which brings down the curtain on City’s week in Ireland.

Those who came off the bench at Athlone will start the first hour this time. There is also a first outing in pre-season for Andrew Davies, who has recovered from a tight calf.

Jon McLaughlin sat out the first Irish game and returns in goal. Former Doncaster keeper Gary Woods continues to train with the squad. Raffaele De Vita is expected to be offered a deal after impressing and Woods looks to be in pole position for the goalkeeping vacancy.

Parkinson said: “We looked at Brian Jensen last Saturday and Gary played against Athlone.

“We are getting close to making a call on that because we’ve got to be fair on those lads.

“Gary played 42 league games in a promotion-winning team last year. He was at the stage where he needed to get some training under his belt and it’s worked out well for him.

“He knows (goalkeeping coach) Lee Butler from his time at Doncaster so he’s been over with us and he’s working hard. We’re looking at him in training and he’s doing okay.”

Jensen did not join City on the tour and played in another trial game for Burton at Nuneaton on Tuesday.
