Thackley played back-to-back friendlies over the weekend – both played on the artificial surface at Marley – as they got their pre-season campaign up and running.

The Dennyboys opened up with a clash against Barnoldswick Town, rivals of Silsden in the top tier of the North West Counties League.

Two goals from Danny Boyle either side of half-time saw Town post a 2-1 win.

Nicky Matthews came on in a half-time reshuffle and he halved the arrears in the 77th minute.

Thackley managed a draw today when they took on West Riding County Amateur Premier Division side Ovenden West Riding.

Matthews was again on target for the Dennyboys, after just six minutes, and Mark Bett doubled their lead midway through the first half.

Ovenden’s Jordan Cordujry pulled one back on the half hour and the same player netted a 70th-minute equaliser.

Thackley fielded some promising prospects from their junior sides and also some trialists in both games.
