Bradford Park Avenue will be having their second run out of the pre-season on Saturday when they make the short journey to Wakefield.

The hosts are Evo-Stik Division One North counterparts of Avenue’s neighbours Farsley, who will provide the opposition for John Deacey’s men in a later friendly.

At just two divisions below Conference North outfit Bradford, both teams will present a genuine test.

Deacey fielded some of his close-season signings in last weekend’s home friendly against a Pakistan XI, which the Horsfall side won 5-3.

Centre back Adam Quinn, no stranger to the area after six years at Halifax Town earlier in his career, played the full match and looks to be the new cornerstone.

The Bradford boss is hoping to include former Bantams midfielder Paul Bolland and Chris Howard in the squad on Saturday.

Bolland, who was at Harrogate Town last term, missed last weekend’s
encounter because of a coaching course, while Howard was away on holiday.

It is a big weekend of action for many of the semi-pro clubs as their pre-season campaigns gather pace.

Brighouse Town get things started tomorrow night when they host a Huddersfield Town XI with a 7pm kick-off.

Thackley also have their first run out and it will be a double header as they have games arranged for Saturday and Sunday.

The Dennyboys will travel to Keighley’s Marley Activities and Coaching Centre on both days.

Tomorrow they face Silsden’s North West Counties top tier rivals and neighbours Barnoldswick Town (2pm ko), while West Riding County Amateur club Ovenden WR will be their opponents the following day (11am ko).

It will give the Dennyboys’ new management team of Lee Clapham and Dave Morgan the perfect opportunity to look at the players they inherited from Vince Brockie and the new faces they have been putting through a rigorous training schedule.

Silsden start their warm-up games with the first of five home friendlies. Harrogate Railway Athletic are the visitors.
