Silsden will hope history repeats itself when they start their North West Counties League Premier Division campaign at Alasager Town on Saturday, August 3.

The opening month’s fixtures were released this week and will see the Cobbydalers begin against a team which they did the double over last season.

Silsden beat Alsager 2-1 both home and away, and boss Andy Geary would love the same outcome ahead of their first home game against Wigan Robin Park on Wednesday, August 7.

Other standout matches in the first month are the local home derby with Lancashire rivals Colne on Wednesday, August 14 and the FA Cup extra premilinary round clash against Bridlington Town. The seasiders, who came third in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division last season, visit the Angel Telecom Stadium on Saturday, August 17.

Silsden have a bye in the FA Vase opening round and will entertain Northern League side North Shields on Saturday, September 21.

Silsden’s August league fixtures: Alsager Tn (a), Aug 3; Wigan Robin Park (h), Aug 7; Ashton Ath (a), Aug 10; Colne (h), Aug 14; Stockport Sports (h), Aug 21; Abbey Hey (a), Aug 24; Bacup & Rossendale Borough (a), Aug 28.
