Hollins Hall are celebrating after winning their first Bradford and District Rabbits' Association President’s Cup.

The team event at West Bradford saw 26 of the district’s clubs up against each other in four-man teams.

Hollins Hall rabbits' team consisted of Tom Smith, Ken Newhouse, Paul Williams and Laurie Myers, who took the trophy home after pipping closest rivals Bracken Ghyll and Northcliffe to the post by just a single point.

Speaking about their achievements, Smith was delighted with the way in which they performed.

“To win the event for the first time is massive,” said Smith.

He added: “It is obviously a very challenging competition going up against 25 other clubs from the area.

"We were all about to go home at the halfway stage because we thought that it was all going to be over, but then we realised that we were in the lead so we stayed on and eventually won the trophy.

“It all came to the fore for us on the last. We took 11 points after taking three pars and a bogey, and that’s what turned out to win us the 'comp' in the end.

“It’s a great achievement for the club and for the players. To win it meant a lot to us and we’re really proud of our efforts.”
