Phil Parkinson is preaching patience for City fans hungry to hear about new summer signings.

With the promotion success still fresh in the memory, the off season promises to be a lot quieter than in recent years with far less movement in and out.

Parkinson has his sights on recruiting “three or four” new faces to bolster the squad that ended the club’s six-year exile in League Two with Wembley glory. There is no need this time for the wholesale changes that have followed too many recent campaigns.

The Bantams boss, who snapped up ten players ahead of last term, has still been busy making contact with targets before he slips away on holiday. But he is not expecting any immediate arrivals.

Parkinson said: “We don’t have to have a major rebuilding job because we’ve got a good nucleus already. We’d like to add three or four players to the squad and that’s what we are working on.

“We want to keep what we’ve got. We’ve got a good spirit within the group as well as quality and we want to add to that in certain areas.

“But it will take time as always. It’s very quiet at the moment.

“Championship clubs are all adjusting their budgets for the new financial fair play criteria in that division and I know from experience that very few deals are done at this stage anyway.

“We are talking to players and there are a few offers on the table. We’re just waiting for them to come back.”

City are thought to be tracking Cheltenham midfielder Marlon Pack among others but Parkinson, as is his wont, will not discuss names.

He was delighted to get the first bit of business sorted last week when Andrew Davies penned a new two-year deal.

City were expected to face a real fight to retain the powerhouse centre half but Parkinson revealed the negotiation was done quickly.

He said: “There were Championship clubs interested in him, which was going to happen after the high-profile season we’ve had.

“But to be fair to Davo, we had a brief chat in the week straight after the play-off final and he indicated to me that he would be very keen to stay. It was quite straightforward in the end.

“He wants to play at the highest level possible and feels he can do that with us. Bradford’s potential is starting to be realised again and he wants to keep that going.”

Matt Duke, Nathan Doyle, Will Atkinson and Zavon Hines are also out of contract at the end of the month. Parkinson revealed that discussions are still taking place and decisions on their future will be made shortly.

Aidy Boothroyd is understood to be keen on taking Duke to Northampton, where he had an 11-game loan spell in 2012.
