Manager Neil Parsley stated last week that he was glad the season was over but he showed his appetite for the game has not diminished even slightly by adding that he was looking forward to a busy summer.

Parsley said: “You won’t hear this from me very often but I’m glad that season is over. We were not competitive and it was hard going at times but I can’t wait for next season to get going.

“Any manager will tell you that the close season is a very busy time but I think I will be busier than most over the next couple of months.

“There will be major changes on the playing side and Jacko (Mark Jackson) and Sim (Bambrook) and me will be doing a lot of recruiting.

“Last season was a major disappointment for the club and I sat down with the board about six weeks ago to discuss things. From those discussions it was made clear to me that myself, Jacko and Sim were being given the go-ahead to take this club forward again and we have had our heads together since.”

Farsley were in the top six up until the turn of the year but tailed off very badly and ended up in the bottom half of the table.

It was a wake-up call after a play-off finish to their previous campaign – which was their first in the Evo-Stik Division One North, after storming to the Northern Counties East Premier Division title in their first season in existence.

“There are no excuses for the way we played and the results we got in the second half of the season but there are reasons,” added Parsley.

“We have fallen short and that isn’t acceptable. The nucleus of the squad will not be retained – there will be wholesale changes during the close season. It is going to be a very busy summer because there is a lot of preparation to be done before the pre-season gets underway.”
