A keen contest is guaranteed at the Shay tomorrow night as FC Halifax Town and Guiseley go into the first of three derby games that will go a long way to defining their seasons.

The Shaymen have home advantage in the first leg of the Blue Square Bet North play-off semi-final.

The neighbouring rivals will square up again at Nethermoor in the second leg on Saturday before the pair clash once more on Tuesday, May 14 in the West Riding County Cup final at Valley Parade.

Both Halifax and Guiseley suffered surprise defeats in their last league games of the regular season on Saturday. However, both matches were effectively dead rubbers so Lions boss Steve Kittrick and his counterpart Neil Aspin played weakened teams.

There will be no suggestions of either manager resting any players tonight. The Shaymen will be looking to make the most of home advantage so they can take a lead into the second leg, while the Lions will be seeking a good performance and positive result to claim a psychological advantage going into the all-important return clash.

There is also knockout football at Dennyfield tomorrow night as Thackley host Worksop Parramore in a Baris Northern Counties East League Cup semi-final. The Dennyboys are holders of the trophy and put newly-crowned Premier Division champions Scarborough Athletic out in the last round.

Brighouse Town, who finished second to Scarborough, end their season tomorrow with a home game against Hall Road Rangers and Eccleshill United also play their final league match when they travel to Hemsworth in Division One.

Liversedge are also in action but their trip to Staveley MW in the Premier Division is their penultimate game.
