City are “reviewing” their method of selling tickets for the play-off away leg at Burton.

The club have got a limited number of 1,700 for next Sunday’s lunchtime game at the Pirelli Stadium. They announced yesterday that tickets will go on sale to season-ticket and flexi-card holders only from 10.30pm on Thursday – after the first leg.

That caused an immediate reaction from fans concerned about having to queue up straight after the game and the safety issues.

City safety officer David Dowse said: “We are certainly reviewing arrangements. We are aware of the comments from fans and the safety issues.

“We are looking at it but at this stage we do think this idea ticks a lot of boxes. We are listening and we are still monitoring and will make further announcements during the week regarding safety.”

The club believe the idea to sell straight after the first game prevents fans from having to return to the ground the following day to queue up again.

Dowse added: "We are never going to get it entirely right because of the limited number of tickets. But we think we’ve come up with something of an innovation.

“We are trying to give something back to our most loyal fans who will be already here supporting the team in the first leg.

"We couldn't put the tickets on sale straight away because we aren't getting them from Burton until later in the week.

“It’s about getting the balance right. Whatever we’d done, we would have got flak.

“But there’s limited time, limited tickets and a limited area around the ticket office (because of the One in a Million School building work) and they are all factors that have been considered.”
