City are optimistic that Kyel Reid’s latest injury is nothing to worry about ahead of the play-offs.

The winger was forced off after just 19 minutes of the win over Burton and will not be involved in Saturday’s final league game of the season at Cheltenham.

City kick off the play-off semi-finals at Valley Parade a week today but Phil Parkinson insists Reid’s groin problem is not a major concern.

Parkinson said: “Reidy’s got a slight groin strain. There’s a little bit of swelling in there and we’re waiting to see how that settles down.

“It’s nothing to do with what he did against Rochdale (earlier in the season). He obviously had a bit of tightness after the recent Chesterfield game and just felt it again a bit.

“I don’t think it’s anything too serious but he definitely won’t make this weekend.”

With a top-seven slot secured, Parkinson has already made it plain that he will not take any chances at Whaddon Road – a game that Cheltenham must win to keep alive their faint hopes of nicking the final automatic promotion place.

James Meredith will also be given the weekend off to ease the bruised hip he suffered against Rotherham.

Parkinson said: “We’ve been playing with a few injuries that probably need a break. We would be mad to risk anybody for the game with a huge week coming up after that.

“Of course we want to put in a good performance and go down there and play well. We will endeavour to do that.”
