Bradford City face a make or break scenario as the unbeaten Northern Combination side take on current leaders Chorley twice in the next eight days.

City are in Lancashire for tomorrow’s clash and a win will put their title chances firmly in their own hands.

A surprisingly difficult contest at Cheadle Heath saw City twice come from behind, with goals from Jodie Redgrave and Mel Garside-Wight, before club all-time record scorer Garside-Wight grabbed a 71st-minute winner.

A back four at “sixes and sevens” was manager Steve Winterburn’s mathematical poser but Garside-Wight’s solution was clearly ‘We’re gonna score one more than you’ as City now go into the Chorley game with three games in hand and only a seven-point deficit.

Huddersfield, at Middlesbrough, are looking at a mid-table finish, at best, but they have a County Cup final to look forward to after an Emily Heckler strike against Castleford gave them a 1-0 semi-final win to secure a final tie with Leeds United.

Ossett Albion moved off the bottom of the North East Regional League (South) with a 2-1 win over an in-form Wetherby side. Jo Atkinson and subsitute Sophie Langdale hit the goals that put Albion above Keighley Oaks on goal difference but they went down 3-1 to Kirklees in midweek and now face Oaks at home tomorrow.

Keighley’s 3-1 defeat at Bradford City A leaves them in bottom spot while Kirklees look safe after the win at Albion. Chelsey Faulkner, Kerry McLoughlin and Kerry Playle were on target for City and Becky Granger for Keighley.

Albion have a chance to pull clear of Keighley while Rothwell can move within a point of the title if they beat second-placed Doncaster Belles and City A hope to continue their climb at home to Rovers (Foundation).

In the Premier Division, Guiseley hope to bounce back from their recent thrashing at Chester-le-Street when they entertain bottom club Lepton at Nethermoor.

Bradford Park Avenue, battling to avoid relegation in the West Riding League Premier, are at home to Wakefield while Third Division Dewsbury Rangers, having lost 3-1 at fast rising Ilkley, now go to leaders Oulton and bottom club Cleckheaton are at second-bottom Crossley.
