Farsley’s manager Neil Parsley was disappointed to have to settle for a draw last time out in Evo-Stik Division One North, and also confirmed that too many dropped points had cost his side another tilt at promotion.

Parsley’s men suffered the frustration of a postponement in midweek but they host New Mills, whose promotion hopes are very much still alive, on Saturday.

Farsley dropped into the bottom half of the table during their inactivity but their Derbyshire visitors are eighth and have played fewer games than any of the clubs above them and would be in second place if they won their games in hand.

After last Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Radcliffe Borough, Parsley said: “In terms of us winning promotion, that ship has sailed. It is very disappointing considering where we were at the end of January but we have to be realistic.

“Our focus has shifted and is on the League Cup (Farsley are in the quarter-finals) and finishing as high as we can in the league.

“We have Matty James and Robbie O’Brien in on loan from Bradford (Park Avenue) but it is defensively where we are struggling for numbers.

"Jacko (assistant player-manager Mark Jackson) had his season cut short by an ankle injury and Matt Dempsey was ill last weekend and James Riley (hamstring) was injured.

“I tried to get a player in on loan from Halifax Town but that deal fell through at the last minute.”
