Former Bradford Park Avenue full back Ken Jones has died, aged 68.
Ken was discovered while playing for Monckton Colliery, just a few miles from his home village of Havercroft, near Wakefield.
Avenue boss Jimmy Scoular obtained his signature, despite interest from Arsenal, Aston Villa and Coventry.
He came to Park Avenue in September, 1961, a few months after his 17th birthday, and was developed in the reserve team with Kevin Hector.
He made his Football League debut in a Third Division match at Hull City in March, 1963, and went on to make 100 league appearances for the club, scoring three goals.
In the summer of 1965, he moved to Southampton, and in 1966 was part of the Saints team which won promotion to the First Division.
After 92 senior appearances, Ken was transferred to Cardiff City in 1971, then managed by Scoular, where he ended his career.
He was later employed as a dock worker in Southampton.
