Silsden’s quest for a much-needed victory in the North West Counties Premier Division continues after a spirited comeback ended in failure in an incident-packed game at Norton.

The home side sprinted into a 3-0 lead and, while Silsden won the second half 3-2, they played the last five minutes with nine men.

In a disastrous start, they trailed 2-0 with three minutes on the clock. Tom Fogg netted a second-minute penalty and Dan Brown doubled the lead a minute later.

Darren Chadwick then headed home a cross just before the interval.

Kevin Ryan nodded home Silsden’s first from a Mike Garrod cross before substitute James Dunn scored from the edge of the area to make it 3-2.

Chadwick headed in from a corner minutes later before Andy Lee netted a third for Silsden.

Chadwick had the final word by completing his hat-trick from the penalty spot five minutes from time. Silsden keeper Ed Hall was sent off for the foul on Brown that led to the penalty and Scott Hanson had to don the gloves as the visitors were already down to ten men following an injury after all three subs had been used.
