Brighouse Town consolidated their third place in the Baris Northern Counties East Premier Division with a comfortable home win over lowly Nostell MW.
Town took a first-half lead thanks to James Hurtley’s strike but it was a second-half brace from Tom Matthews that eased them to a 3-0 victory.
Matthews’ double came within a three-minute spell just after the hour.
It was a good day for Paul Quinn’s men as leaders Bridlington Town were beaten at mid-table Pickering and second placed Scarborough were without a fixture.
It was not so good for neighbouring rivals Thackley or Liversedge, however, as both were beaten.
Thackley lost 2-0 at Maltby Main, who were down to ten men after Sam Foulds’ dismissal midway through the first half.
Despite that, Craig Gladwin put the home side in front before the break and Brian Cusworth settled it for Maltby in the penultimate minute.
James Rothell put Liversedge 1-0 up at Armthorpe Welfare but there was a late twist.
Sedge’s Chris Hurst was sent off for a foul in the 88th minute that led to Steven Garner levelling from the penalty spot and Richard Smith netted Armthorpe’s last-minute winner.
