Leeds midfielder David Norris believes the club’s promotion prospects will be a lot clearer after the hectic festive schedule.

Neil Warnock’s men lie 14th in the Championship but only four points adrift of the play-off places ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Ipswich.

That is the first of five league games in just over a fortnight for United, who also entertain Chelsea in the Capital One Cup quarter-finals next Wednesday.

Norris said: “We’ll have a clearer picture in January.

“If we can be in and around there we’ll start talking about it then. If you have three wins people talk about going up, but three losses and you’re looking at relegation so it can change very quickly.

“We won three in a row, and had a loss, but if we pick up a win against Ipswich on Saturday it won’t look too bad.

“With the way this league is it’s going to be difficult to go on a run like some teams have done in the past.”

The 31-year-old (pictured) spent over three years at Ipswich, clocking up a century of appearances following a £2million move from Plymouth.

Norris added: “It was a good move for me and I had really had a good time there.

“They’re flying at the moment and they’ve played some good teams. It will be a really tough game, but we’d like to think at home it will take a decent team to beat us.”
