Matt Duke only has to look at the scores in Arsenal’s previous rounds to know the size of his task in City’s goal tonight.

The Gunners have fired in 13 goals in two games, following up a 6-1 thrashing of Coventry with that incredible 7-5 fightback at Reading – all with a much changed side.

Duke joked: “We’ll take five! But there’s no doubting their quality and it will be a pleasure to be on the same pitch as Arsenal.

“It was an unbelievable comeback in the last round. Not many teams come from 4-0 down and to score seven against any opposition is a great effort.”

City’s best chance of a giant-killing act would be on penalties, where they have reigned supreme in the last eight shoot-outs.

But Duke, who made the decisive save at Wigan, admits it is impossible to do any homework when you don’t know which line-up Arsenal will field.

“I know (Mikel) Arteta goes down the middle but that’s about it!

“Arsenal could play anybody and you’d have to study about 15 different players.

“They might put their strongest team out because they want some silverware. But I’m sure they’ll make some changes and it’s pretty much a lottery what the team will be.

“Penalties are a win, win situation for keepers. You always fancy saving one out of five so it’s down to the lads taking them – there’s a lot more pressure on them to score.”
