The derby factor had no bearing on the outcome yesterday as Liversedge hosted neighbours Brighouse Town, with the clash being true to Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division form as the visitors ran out 4-0 winners to remain second in the table.

However, there was an edge to the game and both sides finished with ten men after Sedge striker Danny Toronczak and Town’s Sam Hewitt were dismissed following an altercation in the second half.

Town had to wait more than half an hour before breaking their hosts down but once they had they were soon 2-0 up.

Danny Nadiole opened the scoring in the 37th minute and Earnest Boafa added to that just a minute later.

Ryan Hall netted Town’s third before the double sending off in the 70th minute, and former Sedge man James Hurtley completed the scoring soon after.

Thackley also enjoyed a straightforward victory as they eased to a 3-0 home win over Armthorpe Welfare thanks to a Matt Mathers hat-trick.

The Dennyboys leapt up three places to eighth as as a result of the victory and they could be as high as fourth if they were to win their games in hand.

In a one-sided game that Thackley dominated, Mathers opened the scoring midway through the first half, doubled the home side’s lead just after the half-hour and then completed his treble just seven minutes after the interval.
