Brighouse Town are the highest-placed of the three local Baris Northern Counties East League clubs in the Premier Division but they face the toughest challenge of the trio on Saturday.

Town won 3-0 at home to Long Eaton United in midweek and that lifted them into third place at the expense of Scarborough Athletic, who they must visit this weekend.

The Seadogs are just a point behind Paul Quinn’s men with a better goal difference, so they will be keen to gain the home victory needed to leapfrog Town and reclaim a top-three spot.

Thackley had to settle for a home draw against Tadcaster Albion on Tuesday but the point gained ensured they stayed in the top eight, a position which is under threat on Saturday.

Tenth-placed Retford United come to Dennyfield in the hope of gaining the three points that would see them overtake their hosts.

The Dennyboys earned a point at Brighouse last Saturday to underline their quality and, with five different scorers over the past four games – Jordan Missin, Brice Tiani, Dempsey Smith, Liam Hudson and Nicky Matthews – they are a potent threat to any side in the division.

Mid-table Liversedge are also at home and Eric Gilchrist’s men will be keen to keep distance between themselves and Arnold Town, who are currently three places lower in 17th spot and eight points adrift.

Bradford also has two representatives in Division One and Albion Sports take on Askern Villa at Horsfall Stadium on Saturday.

Albion won 1-0 at home against Grimsby Borough in midweek to move into the top half of the table and they have games in hand on all the clubs above them.

Visitors Askern are just above 17th-placed Eccleshill United in the table but the Eagles face a stern test as they head to Cleethorpes Town, who are second.

Like Albion, the Eagles did enjoy a midweek victory – 4-0 at home to second-bottom Appleby Frodingham – and are on a good recent run, despite their lowly placing.
