Silsden will be eager to return to winning ways when they host AFC Liverpool in the North West Counties League Premier Division on Saturday – weather permitting.

That does not mean the Cobbydalers will be taking their opponents lightly – or, indeed, that they are on a bad run. They last tasted victory when registering a 4-0 win over Ashton Athletic on October 20 but have played just one league game since.

Silsden had two home games postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, which has hit their momentum, but they also exited two cup competitions to lower-ranking opponents.

They were dumped out of the NWC League Cup by Division One side Cheadle Town and on Wednesday were knocked out of the West Riding County Cup by non-league newcomers Knaresborugh Town, who are on the same step as Cheadle.

The Cobbydalers were in good form in the league before their call-offs and cup exits so are a healthy 12th, while visitors Liverpool are a lowly 18th and ten points worse off.
