Ricky Ravenhill column

I can’t wait for the Aldershot game this weekend because it means my suspension is over.

I’m still aggrieved about the whole situation of the sending-off at Burton but at least that’s the ban out of the way now.

The good thing about having all these games one after another at the moment is that I’ve got it done quickly. At another time of the season I’d be waiting at least a week longer.

It’s been a tough time for me to watch the lads without being able to play a part of it but I did a warm-up before the Wigan game and again on Tuesday night.

It’s something the coaching staff are keen on and kept me involved and around the squad, which was good. It’s also meant that I’ve kept up my fitness, although with the ban over so fast I don’t think that’s a problem.

The Chesterfield game was frustrating for everyone but you’ve got to expect those sort of games over the season. They aren’t all going to be exciting and full of entertainment.

But it’s one more point on the total and another clean sheet. That’s something the gaffer is keen on and, with the injuries we’ve had at centre half, it’s been hard.

So it’s a real credit to the lads coming in, Carl McHugh and John Egan, that they have kept it tight. They have taken on board what is wanted straight away.

We can expect another difficult game at Aldershot. They are struggling at the moment but you can’t take form into consideration too much and it’s never an easy place to go, in my experience.

There’s always somebody talking about the Arsenal cup tie and it’s hard to put it completely to the back of your mind. But it’s something we’ve got to do for the next month.

The other games between now and then are as important, if not more so. We want to keep progressing in the other cups and, of course, getting promoted is our main aim.

Arsenal is going to be a fantastic occasion when it comes round but until then our focus has to be elsewhere.
