Brighouse Town put distance between themselves and visitors Long Eaton United with a 3-0 home victory in the Baris Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

Town could have been overhauled by their opponents had they suffered a loss but there was no fear of that after two late first-half goals set them on their way.

Tom Matthews broke the deadlock in the 39th minute and Nick Jagger added before the break. Matthews put the result beyond doubt with his second midway through the second period.

Neighbours Thackley could not make the most of home advantage as they failed to cut the points gap between themselves and visitors Tadcaster Albion, who earned a 1-1 draw.

The Dennyboys took a first-half lead through Jordan Missin but Chris Kamara levelled in the first minute of the second half.

Silsden exited the West Riding County Cup after being beaten at home in the second round by lower-ranked opponents.

The Cobbydalers slumped to a 3-0 defeat to NCE Division One outfit Knaresborough Town after a second-half Joel Freestone hat-trick.

Two more of the local sides are at home tonight, with Knaresborough’s divisional rivals Albion Sports and Eccleshill United in action.

Albion face Grimsby Borough while Eccleshill United host Appleby Frodingham.
