Tyersal eased through to the third round of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup with a 4-1 victory at lower-ranked fellow County Amateur League side Westbrook YMCA.

Aaron Heywood led the way with a hat-trick for the high-flying Premier Division outfit, with Fabian Evans also on target, while Elliott Walker replied for the Division One strugglers.

Other County Amateur sides to march on included Marsden, who beat visiting Old Centralians 2-0, Golcar United, 6-4 winners at North East Leeds, and Bay Athletic, who accounted for Ossett Albion Reserves 3-1.

But Hunsworth lost 3-2 at home to Wyke Wanderers, despite goals from Tom Ormondroyd and Joel Farrar, while Littletown went down 5-1 at Huddersfield League team Newsome and Lower Hopton lost 1-0 to a last-minute goal at Springhead.

Wibsey’s tie at home to Craven League opponents Grassington was one of four games in the competition to be postponed due to grounds being waterlogged. These have been rescheduled for this coming Saturday.

Campion Reserves made comfortable progress through to the third round of the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy with a 3-0 win at Bingley Town. James Todd, Chris Graham and Maldini Nyandoro netted their goals.

Dudley Hill Rangers had a first-half strike from Lewis Carroll to thank for their 1-0 success over Salts Reserves.

Tyersal Reserves and Steeton Reserves both had easy passages into the next round.

Two Antony Busfield goals and one apiece from Damian Rushworth and Liam Worby enabled Tyersal to win 4-1 at Heywood Irish Centre.

And Steeton had Damian Whiteoak, Nicholas McNally and Andy King on target to send Linthwaite packing 3-1.

There was also plenty of league action, with Campion pulling themselves into a mid-table Premier Division position following a 3-2 home victory over Lepton Highlanders.

Lincoln Donaldson, Damian Melvin and Nathan Woodward scored for Campion, with Gary Bradley and Ross Martin responding. Steeton, who were without a fixture, lost top spot to Hall Green United, who won 2-1 at Kirkburton to move a point clear at the summit.

Salts continued their improvement with a 5-2 success at winless basement side Overthorpe.

Jonny Cunnington and Andy Howland both scored twice and Dave Boote completed the tally, with Ashley Hill and Scott Hargreaves claiming the hosts’ goals.

Ventus/Yeadon Celtic remain third in Division One after seeing off Storthes Hall Reserves 6-1. Doubles from Kyle Shah and Adam Turner were added to by Billy Swiatek and Antony Hannan.

The win lifted Ventus/Yeadon level on points with AFC Emley, who stay second on goal difference after only drawing 1-1 at Tingley Athletic.

Postponements meant only one game was possible in Division Two, with West Horton climbing to third thanks to a 4-1 home win over bottom side Tingley Athletic Reserves.
