Ricky Ravenhill column: It’s a big ask when you’ve got to play so many away games on the bounce.

Five out of six is tough for anyone but we got off to a great start with the win at Northampton.

I think it was a fantastic performance. You know it’s going to be hard at a place like that on a Tuesday night but we really dug in.

In an ideal world you want to play good football all the time but you know not every game is going to be pretty. In League Two, you’ve got to go away from home and roll your sleeves up.

I thought all 11 players on the pitch knew exactly what their jobs were and we thoroughly deserved the three points.

We didn’t start off the season particularly well away from home but we’ve improved over the last few games. We showed at Oxford, Rochdale and now Northampton that we can put in a good performance on our travels.

We know we’re capable of picking up points at other grounds and hopefully we can carry that on against Burton tomorrow.

It’s a big week coming up with the Wigan game in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday. Everyone’s excited about that and for anyone involved with the club – the players and the fans – it’s a fantastic occasion.

Everybody’s got to enjoy it. As players, we’ve got to take it seriously and give it a real go and you never know what can happen on the day.

And it’s going to be a special occasion for the fans. They deserve it because we get such great support week in, week out and they follow us everywhere.

To have 5,000 of them crammed in there cheering us on is going to be brilliant and I’m sure that backing will give the team a massive lift.

We’ll probably have more supporters than Wigan there and hopefully that will help us find that little bit extra as well.

It’s one of those games you want to savour as a player. We’re away from the league but we want to give it our best shot and who knows what can happen.
