Eccleshill United have already had plenty of interest for their vacant head coach role but are keeping to their deadline for applicants.

The club’s director of football, former Bradford City favourite Mark Ellis, said: “We are looking for someone who will buy into what we are trying to do up here.

"Anyone who has seen the ground this season will be aware of the vast improvements we have made off the pitch and we are looking to match that with success for the club.

“We don’t want to rush into an appointment but at the same time we need someone quickly because the rest of us who are taking up the slack are very busy. That is why we set the deadline at the end of the month.”

The closing date for applications is next Wednesday (October 31). Former Bantam Graham Mitchell is in temporary charge, and with his qualifications and experience, following his stint in charge of youth development at one of his other former clubs Huddersfield Town, he is a possible candidate.

Mitchell has not been confirmed as one of the applicants due to confidentiality but he may well have already thrown his hat into the ring. All the club will confirm is that the parties who have declared their interest are of high calibre.

Ellis added: “Adrian (Benson, football chairman) had received five CV’s before today and there were a couple of other potential enquiries. He has mentioned a few names to me and the standard of applicant is very high.

“Adrian is handling all that and once we see who is interested we will make a shortlist and go from there.

The club are also seeking a player-coach. CV’s for both positions can be sent to adrian.benson@btinternet.com but he must receive them before next November 1.
