THE organisers of Baildon Carnival have handed over a £300 donation to a local primary school to help buy a solar panel.
Alan Clements from the carnival committee presented the cheque to pupils from Glenaire Primary School.
The donation will go towards the school's Run on Sun Fund, which so far has raised more than £10,000 to buy a number of solar panels to enable the school to run on a large amount of clean, renewable energy.
The carnival committee is hoping the donation will encourage more schools to run a stall at this year's carnival to help raise funds for the school.
This year's Baildon Carnival will take place on Saturday, July 14, from 2pm, with the procession meeting at 1pm.
It will feature all the usual attractions, a variety of stalls and activities, and this year the traditional procession from Ian Clough Hall through the town centre and out to the carnival fields.
All local schools, scout groups, dance schools, and other local groups are welcome to join the procession.
To sign up for the procession, call organiser Rob Higgie on 07735 561499, or email rhiggie@hotmail.co.uk.
