SIR - The Government has recently announced that it will now allow faith schools to select all their pupils using religious criteria.

I cannot believe they are making such a huge mistake, the relationship between some religious groups and the wider public in most towns and cities is abysmal and this foolishness will only increase the opportunity of some of the more fanatical groups to brainwash children when they are at their most impressionable and vulnerable. It will do nothing to help prepare them to mix with other groups.

Multiculturalism has been an abject failure and this will seriously reduce the opportunity of children to meet other faiths and promote integration.

It is paramount that children need to mix with as many different groups as possible, religion has no place in modern schools.
