SIR - In his column (T&A May 15) Perry Austin-Clarke praises the luxurious seating at the newly opened The Light cinema at The Broadway. The seating arrangement is great, unless you need to use a wheelchair. Once again we have a new first class development where the provision for customers with a mobility disability is second class. The spaces for wheelchairs have been placed at the front of all of the six auditoriums just feet away from the large screens. Not a great viewing experience for anyone.
I doubt whether the designers of these cinemas would choose to sit with their noses practically touching the screen, so why should viewers sat in wheelchairs not have a choice of a decent position to watch films?
We will continue to do our picture going at Picturehouse at the Science and Media Museum where in all three theatres the positions for customers who use wheelchairs are a sensible distance from the screens.
