SIR - Just when we all seem to be peddling on nicely after the success of Tour de Yorkshire, we hit a massive pothole.

The possible closure of the purpose-built cycle track at the Richard Dunn Sports Centre is yet another knockdown for the city.

If the Tour has taught us anything, it has taught us that by investing in something positive you will be paid back many times. If not today, tomorrow.

Short sightedness is not going to help our city prosper.

This is not the first time, by any means, that poor decisions have tethered the future prospects of our City.

The councillors should get on their bikes.

Or, at least, support the future generations who want to.
