SIR - The May 2016 election result in a Rotherham ward had three councillors elected - two Labour and one UKIP.
The leading Labour success polled 1,764 votes and the UKIP candidate elected in 3rd place secured 1,190 votes. The Liberal Democrat candidate came fifth with 637 votes.
In the recent by-election in the same ward the Liberal Democrat came top and was elected with 2,000 votes. The Labour candidate came second with 519 votes.
Unbelievable! Are tectonic plates shifting?
