SIR – I would like to congratulate and pay thanks to all the medical staff in Bradford who looked after my dad, Jim Meynell, especially during the last four years of his life.

He had many stays in different wards at BRI and received good treatment. The staff at Lynfield Mount (Duchy Court) were also very dedicated. Everyone at Moorside Surgery in Eccleshill and Saltaire Health Centre provi-ded Jim with the best the NHS could provide.

Just over three years ago Jim’s health deteriorated and he became a resident at Cottingley Hall Nursing Home. The excellent care restored his health from being bedbound to taking part in activities and enjoying life.

The whole staff are amazing. They made Jim feel welcome and valued and showed remarkable empathy for the family.

In the latter half of last year Jim’s health began to further decline. Nothing was too much trouble for the Cottingley Hall staff.

He often said how lucky he was to be in such a beautiful place, where everybody was so kind. He died at the end of last year aged 85. I have peace of mind knowing everybody did their best for my dad.
