I cared for him with the help of my grandson and nurses who were based in Bradford and I think attached to the Bradford Royal Infirmary. They were wonderful and visited most days.

We were asked by them to do an interview for the BBC News promoting their service looking after the elderly at home instead of taking up a hospital bed.

I am not sure if they are still doing this service, if not they ought to be. It is a needed service and they were good.

My husband passed away in 2013 at the age of 88.

I will always be grateful and thankful for the care they gave him.

I am 91 years old and I remember the start of the NHS.
