SIR - Might I wholeheartedly endorse your editorial (T&A, October 17) regarding faith schools?

With the present emphasis on integration, how anyone can advocate the expansion of these divisive institutions simply beggars belief.

Sadly, both Tony Blair and Communities Minister Ruth Kelly wear outsized religious blinkers, rendering them incapable of seeing beyond their own narrow vision.

Imagine the outcry if a school were to be established which only accepted pupils from atheist households and expected all taxpayers to subsidise it?

As your column so rightly says: state-funded classrooms must no longer be used as platforms for the dissemination of dogma of any kind.
