SIR – All terminally-ill and disabled people should be looking forward to their enforced medical with ATOS so they will be told shortly afterwards that they are now cured and are fit for work.
Like the Remploy employees, they will then be available to employers who have thousands of unfulfilled vacancies.
In their manifesto, the Tories pledged to take care of the sick and disabled; as with the Lib Dems, their word is worthless. And now the Tories, with support from the Lib Dems, say they are to freeze the benefits paid to the sick and disabled for the next two years, and will never receive an increase at the rate of inflation again.
A lot of people were brought up in the belief that if a man gave his word then went on to break his word he lost the right to call himself a man.
