SIR – Do you know a young sailor or powerboater in your area who always goes the extra mile? It could be someone who has overcome adversity and carried on sailing, or someone who can demonstrate an exceptional achievement. If so, then why not nominate them for the RYA Regional Young Sailor of the Year Awards 2012?

The RYA (Royal Yachting Association) awards offer clubs and training centres the chance to recognise the outstanding impact young people have made to UK boating, whether it’s on the racecourse, or at their club.

The RYA Yorkshire and Humber Regional Committee will be waiting to receive your nominations before deciding on the RYA YH Young Sailor of the Year winner. Last year’s winners were Matt and Ben Lulham Robinson (Yeadon Sailing Club) These awards would not be possible without your nominations so please do put forward your winning sailor, windsurfer, powerboater or jet skier. The award is open to young sailors and powerboaters who will be under 18 by December 31, 2012.

For more details, and to nominate your winning sailor before Friday, October 12, visit rya.org.uk/go/youngsailor.
