SIR – With regard to Rita Roberts’s letter (T&A, June 28). I was among the 30,000-strong crowd that greeted the Olympic Torch and runners.

So, Mrs Roberts, you got wet. What of it? You chose to stand where you did, so don’t blame someone else for getting wet. I and everyone else who saw the event thoroughly enjoyed it.

The City Park and Mirror Pool is a wonderful space for these large-scale events. But please remember, if you stand too near the water, you will get wet.
