SIR – Re the article ‘Library to close for £900,000 scheme’ (T&A, June 23).

Bradford's Central Library to close? Will anyone really notice? To all intents and purposes, the library is already closed.

The only section of the library that was of any importance to myself was the first floor non-fiction and music section. This was made into a computer room last year when many sections were closed due to good old health and safety.

It is to be hoped that after the three-month period the library will be restored to its former glory. I hope that the non-fiction and music section is restored.

Come on, Council – deliver the goods on this issue. I have had to join the Calderdale Library in Halifax since our central library was ‘vandalised’.

A large town or city without a central library is more ridiculous than a pub with no beer.
