SIR – Contary to Karl Dallas’s wildly inacurate claims (Letters, June 22), Council Leader David Green has written twice to George Galloway inviting him to meet to discuss how they can work together in the interests of the district.
Mr Galloway has not had the courtesy to respond; indeed, he has made public his refusal to meet Coun Green about critical issues such as Thomas Cook and has made clear to the Bradford public that, despite his election promises, he is actually impotent to do anything to tackle any of those issues.
Coun Green has met with representatives of Thomas Cook and trade unions representing staff in order to see what help the Council can give to save as many jobs as possible.
Further to the equally-misinformed claim that Coun Green will not work with Respect councillors, he has written to the leader of the Respect Group offering to meet with him and has received no reply.
Mr Dallas should get his facts right. Those facts demonstrate the difference between the Labour Group and Mr Galloway – one is working hard in the interests of Bradford, the other is an opportunist carpet-bagger offering nothing but personal attacks and empty rhetoric.
Coun Alan Wainwright, Rushmoor Road, Holme Wood, Bradford
