SIR – Walking down Darley Street recently, I passed two buskers, a beggar, a pedlar, a couple of loudmouth inebriates and a group of scruffy teenagers behaving like unruly ten-year-olds. I was even asked for ‘a cig’.

Not exactly what one expects to come across in a main shopping centre.

So come on, Bradford Council, make a clean sweep. I don’t think even Margaret Thatcher would have had this scenario in mind when in 1983 she said she was trying to restore Victorian values.
