SIR – In his letter (T&A, May 1) David Burnet asks why on earth would any sane person wish to change the name of the tower that houses Big Ben from St Stephen.
Well what I don’t know is why any sane person would want to give it this name in the first place, and I do not wish to Google to find out.
Lots of people think the tower’s name is Big Ben and tourists, especially foreign ones, refer to it as such. So what sane person would object to changing it to Elizabeth? Big Liz has a fine ring to it (pun intended) but we’ll all still continue to call it Big Ben, sane or otherwise. What’s in a name? Philip Bird, Nab Wood Terrace, Shipley
