SIR – In response to John D Anderson’s letter (T&A, May 1), does he not realise that any money raised by these monstrosities (turbines) is not going to put any money in his pocket or indeed give him any cheaper electric. The only people who profit are the companies who erect them and their shareholders, and in respect of the same being beautiful, let me assure him that there are plenty of us who have lived with the eyesore for many years who certainly don’t see much to delight the eye.

It appears that if you have money and own a business you can erect them to make your own power, plus sell any unused power to the National Grid and so make more money.

We who live in the immediate vicinity have to put up with it. Well, Mr Anderson, why not have ten or more turbines sited on Baildon Moor, which has nowhere near the history or visitors we have in our neck of the woods.

Throughout the year we have tourists come from all over the world to enjoy Thornton Moor and Haworth Moor and the scenery they offer, so put them in your backyard.
