SIR – The recent T&A report that the planning officers were objecting to the establishment of a couple of bazaars, while understandable, as no permission was sought, is somewhat ironic to say the least.

This is the same department involved in the Westfield fiasco, but also almost as damaging to the city centre, the erection of the tin sheds in Forster Square.

You have only to visit the shops on both sides of Hamme Strasse and see first-hand the huge footfall of shoppers flocking there to really appreciate the quite devastating effect on the city centre.

All parties involved in these decisions and total lack of judgement should hang their heads in shame!
