SIR – I note in the Telegraph & Argus that George Galloway MP intends to ‘get’ Ian Greenwood at the Council elections in May.

In the two years that Labour, under Ian Greenwood, has had the leadership of Bradford Council, they’ve overseen the delivery of the City Park in Centenary Square, where the amazing opening celebrations were enjoyed by a broad range of us.

They weren’t responsible for the enormous cut to Bradford’s budget – the Coalition Government was. But they drew up plans to protect the most vulnerable (such as children, young people and older people). I was one of those who participated in their wide consultation as a local citizen, as I think our voices must get heard. As a result, improvements were made.

I do not agree with everything this Labour-controlled Council does; but I’m glad they are in power. They don’t give us everything we want – but we have seen the benefit of what they have actually done, not just talked about.
