SIR – I really feel the NHS requires credit and verbal acknowledgement as a constant reminder to us that the service is free of charge and, albeit, the NHS is not faultless it warrants rewarding where appropriate.
I have recently been discharged from Ward 13 at Airedale General Hospital following a prolonged admission due to extensive surgery, and I also required the expertise nursing care from ICU/HDU for two weeks.
The nursing care throughout my admission was truly outstanding. They work as a team on every shift, worked extremely hard, never ‘clock-watched’ as shifts finished and new staff arrived.
My care day or night was a credit to the staff on Ward 13. They were extremely attentive to me, as they were towards other patients. The nurses always remained calm, extremely pleasant, happy and encouraging. I was seriously ill during my stay on Ward 13, but senior nurses were constantly on my case, as were the nurses in ICU/HDU.
Medical staff, in particular my surgeon, who never gave up and is responsible for my acknowledgement for the care I received, and physiotherapy, domestic, clerical, and catering staff complete Ward 13, which deserves to be classed as “Simply The Best”.
Myself, family and friends sincerely thank the entire team for such a positive outcome after what was an “extremely stormy passage”.
Thank you most sincerely to you all.
