SIR – The Salvation Army building in Leeds Road, a Bradford landmark, a refuge for folk in difficult times, a lifesaver for many. Now good people are losing their jobs.
Sadly, another worthwhile and essential Bradford service bites the dust. Ah well, I guess one consolation is to shiver and enjoy the icy fountains of the pool park along with a view of the weedy windows display (just to your left). Surely stunning when complete, but what of the cost?
This cosmetic makeover shrouds some scary undercurrents. I hope it’s worth it and benefits all, especially Bradford citizens who are presently vulnerable and in need (no-one’s exempt from misfortune), since without the Salvation Army and other organisations like Gingerbread life could be a lot harder.
