SIR – I spent New Year’s Day helping my daughter who is a volunteer at Allerton Cat Rescue – and boy did it open my eyes. My daughter had told me it was heartbreaking but, until you actually see for yourself, you cannot begin to imagine the half of it.
I was overwhelmed with emotion at all the unwanted cats and kittens, all innocent animals just wanting to be loved, crying out for attention.
Brenda and her volunteers do a really good job, which is never-ending and don’t receive any recognition of this, nor do they receive any funding other than donations.
They deserve a medal, especially Brenda and her husband, who let their lovely home be overtaken by these cats and kittens.
Please, if you are thinking of getting a cat think it through right and be prepared that its going to cost you time and money but, you will be rewarded with lots of love which will be worth it.
When you’re sure you want a cat, consider going to Allerton Cat Rescue and choose one of their cats, which are all lovely with their own personalities, deserving of a home.
