SIR – I am writing to ask as the City Park project approaches completion, can we have full details of the cost of the project? Many people have looked at what has been actually done for this money and are absolutely amazed.

How could it take so long and why was there no penalty clause? What were the people in charge of the development acting on if no penalty charges to the firms building it were given. On closer inspection this park consists only of a shallow pond, some floodlights and a couple of beech hedges, five lawns, three large carved stones and a vast amount of stone paving.

When one thinks about the above this is not a great deal to show for an estimated £26 million-worth of expenditure.

The financial facts on this complete development should be brought to the Bradford public’s attention as it was funded not by private cash but public taxpayers’ hard-earned money.
