SIR – Hear, hear, Bob Hargreaves (Letters, October 11). I too have had a £60 fine for being in the same area – Nelson Street. I too was confused as the way I was going to go through the city was all closed off with cones. I ended up, unknown to me, in a bus lane at 1am in the morning. Although no buses run at this time, I was still fined. I appealed to no avail. Then a couple of months later, my husband got a ticket in Bradford city centre on a Saturday after parking for ten minutes in an area that was not clearly marked.

I know this to be the case as everyone parked on the street got a ticket; what does that tell you? We appealed, again to no avail.

Bradford Council must have resorted to using fines as their main source of income.

It’s a great way to treat visitors that they so desperately need. We will not be coming back in a hurry – if at all. It has completely put us off.

We can't afford to go there for fear of getting a ticket, not that there was much to entice us there in the first place.

No wonder they don’t get any visitors, they have no idea!
