SIR – Probably the strangest idea of the proposed bus route changes in Bradford is diverting the 846 service away from St Luke’s Hospital.
Everyone knows how difficult it is to park cars at or near hospitals in Bradford.
All bus services which take people to and from hospitals should be treasured, but the plan is to stop the 846 going along Park Lane at the side of St Luke’s Hospital.
At present, it is the only service which takes many residents of Bradford directly to that hospital.
We could learn much from our neighbours in Belgium. On a recent visit to Leuven, my wife and I found that fares were much cheaper (ten euros for unlimited bus travel in Flanders for three days) and completely free after 6pm.
There was even a mini bus station at one hospital.
